A mere 150km or 90 minute drive from Cape Town, Ceres is home to some of South Africa's finest fruit farms.
In the heart of the Witzenberg area, in the midst of the Cape Winelands, lays the beautiful town of Ceres.
Ceres is named after the Roman goddess of fruitfulness and is the centre of the most important decidiuos fruit producing areas in the Western Cape, South Africa. This quaint town is surrounded by magnificent mountains, with breath-taking passes as its only gateways. Its tranquil atmosphere makes it the ideal place to unwind. During summer blue skies and windless days are experienced while in winter we experience more sunny days than rainy ones, making it the favorite all year round destination.
The Ceres valley produces some of the finest deciduous fruit in South Africa. The internationally branded Ceres Fruit Juices are also, as the name suggests, proudly produced in Ceres. From mid-November to end December our cherry farm, Klondyke is crawling with people to pick their own cherries. Fruit farm tours and tours to the Ceres Fruit Growers Packshed - the largest in the southern hemisphere - can also be arranged on request.
Ceres is also known as the Gateway to Adventure and the area is all but quiet. Here you can be adventurous, wild and daring!
Game Reserves within driving distance of Ceres.
Game reserves will remind you of Africa´s ancient days whilst the nature reserves will leave you with memories of green vegetation. The open plains of the Karoo will make you believe you are somewhere in the desert. During winter we often have snow and has already captured the title "South Africa´s own little Switzerland"
