After finding gold in a stream in 1887, the town of Barberton was born by being christened on a rock in Rimmer's Creek with a bottle of gin. Named after the Barber brothers and built on gold, gin and greed. Barberton has a character of its own, still evident today in the beautiful old structures of the past.
